WELCOME to Read and Succeed Preschool in Wellsville, Utah.

We are THRILLED that you have chosen to come and explore the opportunities that our preschool has to offer.

All academic learning is done on an individual basis so your child progresses as fast or as gradual as they need. Assessments are made throughout the year and progress will be reported at quarterly Parent-Teacher Conferences.

By the time your child goes to Kindergarten they will know their letter names and sounds and how to read. Numbers & counting, colors, shapes, handwriting, songs & rhymes are also learned. Monthly fieldtrips to various locations will provided as part of our curriculum. Parents are invited and encouraged to attend.

We guarantee that your child will be blending sounds and beginning to read before Kindergarten using the Read at Three reading program.

We follow the guidelines provided by the Cache County School District in order to better prepare your child for Kindergarten. All concepts for Kindergarten readiness and preparation will be part of our daily routine in class. We follow the Cache County School District calendar (ex. Spring Break, UEA, etc.) and specifically Wellsville Elementary.

Each week we have a theme that we learn about. Our craft, story and songs teach us about this theme. Every month we have a color and a shape that we study. We finger-paint, explore and create with play dough, have show & tell and do other fun activities every month.

Circle Time

During circle time we repeat the Pledge of Allegiance, calendar, weather, sing days of the week months of the year, review numbers and counting, shape, color, read a story, and sing our goodbye song!

Read at Three Reading Program

We use the Read at Three reading program as developed and written by Julie Orme of Wee Friends Preschool in Logan. We spend the first 6 weeks reading "The Mystery Book" as a class which teaches 39 basic sounds.

Each picture represents a sound.

Once we have completed the Mystery Book we begin individually blending the sounds into letters and words. We start by matching all of the letters in the alphabet using the pictures.

Once they have completed the uppercase and lowercase letters they move on and begin blending words and reading.

First, we review each letter with the picture, and then again without the picture.

Slowly, we take away the pictures but they remember the letter and the sound that it makes and they can read! It is an amazing program and it really works!

Meet the Teacher

Hello!  I am Stephanie Strawn.  My husband Jared and I have been married for 18 years and have lived in Wellsville for the last 15.  We have 3 kids: Kaden (18), Kambri (14), and Tate (11).  I LOVE teaching preschool.  Read & Succeed Preschool has been in business for 14 years.  I love all things outdoors including camping, four-wheeling, hiking, snowmobiling, skiing, kayaking and everything in between.  I love summer most of all, a cold Mountain Dew & Costa Vida.  I look forward to spending my days with your little ones!
